DUBAI – The Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media has engaged in high-level discussions with representatives of Germany to expand cooperation in tourism promotion and cultural exchange, marking a renewed push to strengthen Ajman’s visibility in European markets.

The meeting brought together senior officials and a German delegation that included diplomatic and cultural representatives, reflecting shared interest in deepening bilateral engagement.

The talks centred on practical pathways to increase German visitor numbers while highlighting Ajman’s cultural identity and tourism infrastructure. Both sides emphasised the importance of translating dialogue into structured initiatives with measurable impact.

Focus on tourism

The delegation was received by Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, who outlined the emirate’s strategic tourism direction and its growing appeal as a competitive destination in the region. Discussions focused on marketing Ajman to the German travel market through targeted campaigns, enhanced representation in Europe, and collaboration with tourism agencies and industry partners.

The department highlighted its structured promotional plans designed to position Germany among Ajman’s leading international source markets, supported by visitor trend analysis indicating strong demand among German travellers for culturally rich destinations with modern infrastructure. Officials also underlined the role of Ajman’s overseas representative offices in maintaining direct engagement with European tourism stakeholders.

The meeting further explored opportunities to expand joint initiatives with the German side, particularly in tourism promotion activities that align with shifting travel preferences. Emphasis was placed on long-term cooperation frameworks that could support consistent tourist inflows and enhance destination awareness. Ajman’s tourism officials also presented their broader development vision, which integrates cultural authenticity with sustainable tourism growth.

Cultural exchange

Representatives from the German Consulate General in Dubai, led by Sybille Pfaff, expressed appreciation for Ajman’s cultural and tourism assets and acknowledged the emirate’s efforts to diversify its international outreach. The discussions highlighted shared interest in developing cultural and artistic collaborations that could strengthen people-to-people connections between the UAE and Germany. Both parties considered opportunities for joint exhibitions, artistic events, and cultural programmes that showcase historical and contemporary links between Arab and European civilisations.

The role of institutional cooperation was also examined, with participation from the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK), which contributed perspectives on strengthening economic and cultural linkages. The dialogue underscored the importance of building initiatives that go beyond tourism promotion, extending into broader cultural understanding and exchange platforms. Officials highlighted that such engagement can serve as a foundation for long-term bilateral relations rooted in shared cultural appreciation.

Digital outreach

A significant portion of the discussions focused on the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping travel perceptions among European audiences. Both sides acknowledged the increasing role of influencers and content creators in promoting destinations and agreed on the potential of integrating these tools into structured tourism marketing strategies. Ajman’s representatives outlined plans to utilise digital campaigns to better communicate the emirate’s tourism offering to German travellers, combining storytelling with visual content to enhance engagement.

The meeting also reviewed current promotional efforts aimed at positioning Ajman as an emerging destination with strong cultural and experiential appeal. Officials stressed that digital outreach would complement traditional marketing channels, ensuring wider visibility in competitive European markets. The integration of data-driven insights into campaign planning was also discussed as a means to improve targeting efficiency and measure engagement outcomes more effectively.

As the visit concluded, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination and developing joint initiatives that support tourism growth and cultural understanding.
